About DAIYO
Daiyo was established in the Takashima county of Shiga Prefecture in 1914 and the artisanship has been passed down across four generations, polished and refined as time passes.

The wax harvested from the sumac trees called HAZE originally came from Ryukyu (Okinawa) in the Edo period (1603 - 1868). The HAZE trees are found particularly in western Japan and have been bred to make them suitable for candle-making.
