SAMOVAR • 24x36 • Screen Print

$80.00

SAMOVAR is the first print in our Around the Samovar series. As a symbol of hospitality and sociability as a central part of tea ceremony, samovars were an iconic center piece of social gatherings in Russia. They held hot water and would produce steam to heat the pot sitting on top of the samovar which would be filled with concentrated tea. Guests would dilute the tea with hot water using the spout on the front in a 1:10 ratio for continuous and uninterrupted servings. Samovar designs ranged from beautifully decorated and bejeweled art pieces for the aristocracy to plain brass metal construction for everyone else, but everyone had one.
